Gandalf's Surgery Fund

People say that dogs are mans best friend, but this cat is certaintly the greatest friend Corey and I have every had.  We have had him since he could barely walk and his eyes were still blue.  I remeber mothering him and his brothers and sisters when their mother was gone and my father rescued them from a warehouse.  We have always wanted what's best for our cat, or as we call him, our son.

It started about 6 months ago.  We noiticed one of our cats peed all over our shoes.  We were fostering another cat at the time (a female) and thought it was our female cat marking her territory.  Months later, every once and a while we noticed it kept happening.  We didn't think anything of it besides it being reprehensible behavior from the scent of the fostered cat lingering.  There weren't signs of anything abormal with any of our cats, and didn't think it could be anything more serious.

The past week the urinating happened more frequently, and Corey found the culprit.  It was Gandalf.  Something clicked in my head. there must be something wrong, he's trying to tell us something.  We noticed him straining to go to the  bathroom and we immediatly brought him to the vet,

Diagnosis:
The vet took an Xray.  It looked like a large mass in his kidney's which the Dr. deemed untreatable, and we would have to put him down.  We refused to believe this and demanded more tests and more Xrays.  The mass was in his bladder.  Gandalf has a stone the size of a large marble in his bladder.  It's too large to be treated with medication to dissolve it and invassive surgery is needed.

The past few days, while awaiting the surgery, Gandalf was urinating blood.  Every 10 minutes he kept urinating blood.  Then he stopped urinating altogether.  I stayed up with him all night watching his everymove to make sure he was urinating, and he wasn't.  I knew something was wrong and was terrified of his bladder rupturing so we immedietly brought him to a 24/7 emergency vet.

Gandalf not only has 1 large stone, but a bunch of tiny ones that now blocked his urethra which made him unable to empty his bladder which is life threatening.  Fortunatly, the procedure to unblock him was successful, but the invasive surgery still has to be done.  Not only that, but they deemed the problem as hereditary since we know he drinks a ton of water, wet food, and we monitor his dry food (since he's a little chubby guy).  This means, we not only need to get the cycstotomy, but our vet, and the emergency vet both agreed together the best option for Gandalf is to perform a perineal urethostomy which would widen the urethra to prevent blockages in the future.

We are extremely grateful for how helpful and compassionate our Vet and the emergancy vet has been in treating Gandalf.  Unfortunatly, we can't afford to get all of this done ourselves.  I'm creating this go fund me to try and get help so this little guy can be with us for as long as we can possibly to keep him happy and healthy.

Emergency Vet Bill- 1750
Cycstotomy-  2000
Perineal Urethostomy- 5000

We gratefully appreciate all of you and anything you can do to help Gandalf and us get the treatment he needs.

Thanks you all.

Love,
Gandalf, Corey, & Danielle
