Game of Crohn’s - Starring Melissa

I never thought I’d be here again. Listening to the Doctor telling me I needed another big surgery. Yet, here I am.  My friend Ceili started a Go Fund Me for me when I first had a big surgery back in 2016 and the money she helped raise for me from all of our friends and families was amazing and so helpful for My family and I to pay my hospital bills.  I have recently been in the hospital a handful of times for the same issue, an abscess, a very large abscess that keeps getting bigger. Every time I get one I have to come to the hospital, wait in the waiting room all the while knowing exactly what I am going to have, but I’m patient with my mom keeping me company. I go into a room, get bloodwork done and a CT scan and then the Doctor says “well you’re right the abscess is back.” So I stay a couple night to get a drain placed into my bottom/pelvis area while I’m a CT machine to make sure they get it in the right spot.  I get to go home with this lovely painful drain sometimes for a few days sometimes for 2 weeks and have my home nurse come help me with the dressing. As I currently lay in my hospital bed at Maine Medical Center with her another drain in my right bum cheek(TMI?) I get a visit from my surgeon saying that they are definitely going to go ahead with the surgery they had thought may have to happen in the end of July is not going to be happening within two weeks. This surgery is the same big surgery as the very last big one I had which I just “celebrated” being two years since I got it done on May 26th 2017. They had to open my left leg from my knee to my groin and take out a long muscle to use for flap surgery and put the muscle in my bum/pelvis area. Well, now they have to do it again only this time using my right leg. It is a pretty rough surgery I remember I couldn’t stand the first two days and how hard it was when I did finally stand up and failed to be able to walk at first try. But I did it finally and it felt amazing after and I had one of the best summers I’ve ever had. Yeah, I had to use a walker for awhile and then crutches, but they’re pretty cool. Anyways, it is a hard surgery and an even harder recovery and if it could get harder, it does...medical bills. I used every single dollar we raised towards my medical bills and I will never forget everyone who helped me in the time of need. I know I’ve already done one of these before and got such amazing support, anything will help as I will be out of work for a bit of time. My surgery is in about two weeks or less and I am just hoping for an easy speedy recovery.
