At 1610JST on New Years Day 2024 an earthquake with an intensity of 7.6 struck the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa, Japan. Ishikawa and Niigata prefectures were most heavily impacted, with over 12,000 buildings damaged or destroyed and approximately 30,000 people displaced in Ishikawa alone.
Anyone who has ever been to Game Center Betty in Nanao, Ishikawa, knows that it is a unique remnant of Japan's arcade game culture. A trip to Game Center Betty is more like visiting a museum of the history of Japanese arcade games than a modern arcade, yet you will still find new Beatmania IIDX lightning machines amongst their line up.
Unfortunately Nanao and Game Betty were not spared by the earthquake, being very close to the epicenter. The damage is documented on their twitter account, here https://twitter.com/gamebetty_nanao
Whether you have been to Game Center Betty and experienced the owners hospitality or not, if you have any interest in Japanese arcades please contribute to this campaign to help Game Betty get back on their feet ASAP!
100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BE CONVERTED TO YEN AND SENT DIRECTLY TO GAME BETTY AT THE END OF THIS CAMPAIGN.
