Galway Tribesmen Challenge Cup Journey 2022

Donation protected
The Galway Tribesmen have successfully secured their place in the 2022 Challenge Cup. The Challenge Cup is a knockout rugby league cup competition organised by the Rugby Football League, held annually since 1896. Making it one of the oldest sporting competitions in the world. It involves amateur, semi-professional and professional clubs from all across the UK, Ireland, Canada, Russia and Serbia. However, due the recent COVID-19 Pandemic the opening round has been cut from 52 teams to 26. Such was the dominance of the Galway Tribesmen in 2021 they have managed to receive an invite to participate in the first round on January 15th/16th.

No Irish team has ever won a single match or qualified to the second round of the competition. A feat which the Tribesmen hope to change. However, this feat comes at a significant financial cost to our small rugby league team in the west of Ireland. As a foreign based team, we will automatically have to travel away to our first match and due to the ongoing pandemic this cost has been significantly increased.

To fund this trip it is going to cost very close to €10,000. We are appealing to the rugby league community and beyond to support The Tribe! While our club may have started from humble beginnings we want to put our best foot forward and to represent, Galway, Connacht & Ireland with pride this January.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated
