My name is Brandon Galloway and I'm raising funds for my father, Diamond Galloway.
10 years ago, Diamond was diagnosed with COPD.
Recently, he fell ill after working a sandblasting job for Joe Benton of B & B Building, Inc. At first, it seemed that a visit to the hospital for a breathing treatment would be enough to allow Diamond to bounce back, but after the first day, it was clear he needed to be moved to the ICU as this was a major COPD exacerbation.
The plan in the ICU was to put Diamond on a respirator for a few days to allow his lungs to recover from the COPD exacerbation. By day 6, the doctors were seeing no progress, and on the morning of the 7th day, he had a COPD flare-up that forced the doctors to put Diamond on a ventilator as it was either that or death.
Within 24 hours of being on a ventilator, Diamond was showing progress. He went from needing 100% assistance breathing to only 35% in one day. On day 2, the doctors started seeing the possibility of Diamond making a decent recovery. While he may never return to work, he could very well return home with rehabilitation and an oxygen tank to assist with breathing.
In the morning of the 3rd day on the ventilator, I received a call that throughout the entire stay in the ICU, the doctors were having trouble getting Diamond's blood pressure regulated and had tried multiple medications, he eventually flatlined but they brought him back, so they decided to move him to a facility with a specialist.
After a few days of testing the doctors realized that Diamond wasn't waking up because he had multiple strokes in his brain, the doctors called me on my birthday January 15 to tell me that Diamond has no chance of recovery and informed us that it may be time to consider pulling the plug, we asked that they continue treatment and on January 17th at 5am we got the call that Diamond had passed.
So, I've created this GoFundMe to ask any and everybody for assistance with the troubles ahead.
I have no idea what amount to aim for as I've never been through this, but every dollar will be used for Diamond's funeral expenses..
