Gallery 1313 Recovery Fund - PHASE II

Donation protected
The effects of Covid-19 have endured far longer, and been far more detrimental than we ever imagined. With our doors closed to the public for 5 months, Gallery 1313 has been unable to deliver programming and in-person exhibitions for countless artists. Though we have recently been able to open our doors to a limited capacity using Covid-19 protocols, we are still dealing with the severe financial loss caused by the pandemic. We have had exhibitions postponed until 2021, and the student exhibitions we normally have in the Spring (2021) are uncertain

An incorporated not for profit artist-run centre with charitable status, Gallery 1313 is supported only by its member artists, venue rentals, programming revenue, and generous donations from the community. As we enter this second phase of recovery, Gallery 1313 needs your help to continue operating, and deliver future programming and arts education to the community following this pandemic.

Despite Covid-19, we have added new banners, improved outside signage, partnered with Summer Works Theatre on their Parkdale Stay Safe and Healthy Installation Project, held several online exhibitions such as the Covid -19 Portraits Exhibit, the OFF CAMERA (IATSE) Exhibit, the Coming Home hybrid online and in-gallery exhibition, the Beyond Roots Exhibit supported by the Canada Council, and the A BRAVE NEW WORLD Exhibit (both online and in the Gallery). We also have a partnership with OCADU and the University of Manitoba for some Winter programming. Some government support, as well as our previous GoFundMe campaign have helped us struggle through the pandemic.

Visitors to the gallery have been thrilled to return. They appreciate the online exhibitions, but prefer to come into the gallery and experience the artwork in person.

For over 23 years, Gallery 1313 has been invaluable in serving the Parkdale arts community. The Gallery is an accessible venue for over 4,000 emerging artists and has held over 1,400 exhibitions, in addition to panel art talks and arts professional development workshops, and has welcomed over 400,000 visitors through its doors.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our last fundraiser!

Donations of all kinds are greatly appreciated.
