Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Galleon Books is an outlier in the Canadian literary scene. Since 2024, we've published 15 titles and have sold some 5000 books, won an award (for Nachzehrer), and carved out a reputation for risk-taking, thought-provoking literature, while publishing both new authors and more established ones. "We" are also mostly just me, Lee Thompson, reading, vetting, editing, typesetting, and promoting (and mailing books, and making my own damn coffee). I also maintain the website.

(What makes Galleon an outlier? No public funding, for one. We also do not fear book length [tiny or tome] nor controversial material. )

The goal is to become less reliant on outside work (i.e., freelancing), and to have Galleon sail forth little more mightily. This fundraiser will help with concrete things such as office rent, website fees, a better shopping cart, advertising, envelopes, and all the other office expenses, and with less concrete things like time to dig through the submissions while enjoying that coffee.
