Hello! My name is Darlena Garner and I need to have my gallbladder removed.
TL;DR: There isn't much of a long story here. My gallbladder is not functioning correctly and my Gastroenterologists has recommended I have it removed.
Back in September of 2019, I had severe abdominal pain that put me in the ER. After tests at the ER, I was told that none of my organs were going to explode and to make an appointment with a gastro doctor. I have since had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, multiple ultrasounds of my abdomen, and a HIDA. The HIDA test discovered that my gallbladder is not functioning correctly, which is causing me significant abdominal pain and intestinal distress.
I have been doing my best to control my diet and take meds to keep my symptoms at bay, but I consistently have flare ups every three to six months. It has been two years of significant weight loss and weight gain, nausea, low energy, headaches, chills, an intestinal distress. There has been no aspect of my life that has not been affected.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
We all know the terrible reality of the American Health Care system, so I will not go into all the details of how terrible of an experience the last two years have been. I have *finally* been approved for a surgery on August 24, 2021 but I unfortunately will have to pay a large sum of money out of pocket for the surgery.
