FUNERAL INFORMATION for PENELOPE “PENNY” GALLANES

For those that have not yet heard, Penny lost her short battle with cancer on Saturday, October 14th. The services will be held at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in San Bernardino, CA. The Trisagion (Viewing) will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 7:00 pm – Coffee Hour to follow at the church. The funeral will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 am – luncheon to follow at the church. A private internment will be held on October 27th as Penny will be laid to rest near her grandparents (and the beach) in Santa Ana.

night and passed away. They are so grateful to you all for your prayers, thoughts and contributions. Those contributions will now go for helping to make arrangements for Penny’s final rest. Hug your children, grown & small a little longer today, for tomorrow is never promised. Live each day with purpose and kindness and reach out to your loved ones while you still can. We’ll keep this donation site open for a few more days for any further contributions

Hi, my name is Sue Hathcock and I’m collecting money for the Gallanes family. In the photo above, you can see Penny Gallanes on a respirator and in the ICU at Riverside community hospital. About a month ago she went into the hospital with a pain in her side and trouble breathing, thinking it was a residual from Covid. Days later they discovered she had a rare, aggressive form of cancer-stage 4-that

has metastasized to her ovaries, her liver, and her lung. She’s had two brutal chemo treatments that have resulted in her kidneys shutting down. She is now on a respirator and dialysis. She has not been well enough yet to get the third treatment. Butch & Jeannette (Her dad & mom)are practically living at the hospital and we’d like to help out with their costs and any coats not covered by Penny’s Emergency Medical. insurance. Many of my friends and colleagues know the Gallane’s from their years of working at, and helping out at Sugar Hill as parents and volunteers. They have given so much back to the community . Now is the time to give back to them. Anything helps. Your prayers and positive thoughts are welcomed as well. Please refer to me regarding questions. Im trying to take some off their plate at this difficult time.
