Galina, our wonderful friend and part-time nanny to our son, Leon, has been forced to leave her family and her home outside of Kyiv as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine. She was a tremendous help to us over the last six months, caring for our son when he was sick, and supporting me and Marley (our dog) after Lisa and Leon evacuated Ukraine for Canada.
If you haven't been following closely, this war is tearing families apart. Galina and her family moved several times in the first week of the war to avoid Russian shelling. Now, she's made the incredibly hard decision to leave. Her elderly parents and siblings have decided to stay for various reasons. She is literally giving up her family and her home to save her own life.
Yesterday, she finished the harrowing, days-long journey from the outskirts of Kyiv to the Polish border. Today she discovered that her close family friends had been killed in a Russian attack. Tomorrow, things remain uncertain…
Lisa and I are asking for your help to support Galina and her family over the next few weeks and months. Right now she needs a place to stay, food, and a way to support her family still in Ukraine (she was the main provider until anticipation of the war caused her to lose her job weeks ago).
So please help, and share this with anyone who might be willing to help. Your donations will directly go to making a huge difference in our friend's life. Thank you.
***We will send all funds raised to Galina via wire transfer in the coming days since she can't register her own Ukrainian account with GoFundMe at this time.***
