Established in 1937, Galashiels Squash and Racketball Club is one of Scotland's oldest squash-only clubs and the last remaining dedicated facility in the Scottish Borders. After a period of decline a decade ago, our community rallied together with a huge amount of effort. Today, we are thriving again with nearly 70 members and two teams competing in the East of Scotland Leagues.
However, we’ve hit a "perfect storm" of maintenance issues that threaten our ability to stay open. We are currently facing:
- A Leaking Roof: Water is damaging our historic building. We need urgent repairs to prevent permanent damage to the courts.
- A Broken Court Heater: Without the heater, Court 2 is unusable in the Scottish winter, disrupting league matches and coaching.
- A Blocked Heating System: Our changing rooms and club area are freezing; the system needs a professional flush to restore heat.
The total cost for these urgent and essential repairs is approximately £7,500. As a member-run club, this is an amount we simply don't have in reserve.
We are reaching out to our members, the local community, and the wider Scottish sporting family to help us bridge this gap. Every contribution - no matter the size - genuinely helps us keep our doors open for the next generation of players.
