Gal Bichachis surgery funds

Meet our Gal
Gal is a 2.5 year old child, who is full of love and life. With just a smile and a few witty words, he can captivate anyone’s heart.

Gal was born by emergency C-Section due to an umbilical cord drop.

At around 4 months old, we noticed that his muscle tone was not within the normal range, and there were developmental delays in his motor activities.

After many tests and follow-ups, Gal was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Diplegia), manifesting in difficulty crawling for long distances, sitting, standing up or walking on his own- simple and trivial motor functions for children his age.

However, our Gal, a real one of a kind kid, manages to fit into his environment and face his challenges daily.  He constantly surprises us with his will power, joy, and wisdom.

And us- we try to be his anchors and give him all he needs to grow and thrive and be as happy as any child his age.

Gal has an intense weekly therapy routine that includes physical, occupational, hydro, chiro and osteo therapy, therapeutic massages and more. We all work very hard to achieve progress and our eyes are set on our target.

Unfortunately, over time Gal’s spasticity has increased, causing severe pain, orthopedic issues and deformities. These conditions  require orthopedic surgeries followed by long and harsh physical rehab, which will set Gal quite a few steps back.

When we realized Gal will not be able to cope with his spasticity, we started looking for other options, and so we heard of an amazing and unique procedure intended for children and adults with cerebral palsy with spasticity called “SDR”.

It is a complex neuro-surgical spine operation done to remove spasticity for good, and enable motor growth.

According to research, the procedure’s effectiveness is maximal between the age of 2-4 years.

The procedure will be conducted by an innovative specialist neurosurgeon at St.Louis Children’s Hospital.

You can find more information here: https://www.stlouischildrens.org/conditions-treatments/center-for-cerebral-palsy-spasticity/about-selective-dorsal-rhizotomy

We follow families with children who underwent the surgery and are thrilled with every progress- big or small, and can’t wait to be in that place- making our dream come true.

The procedure will fulfill ours and Gal’s dream of independence, will prevent deterioration, pains, aches and deformities along Gal’s lifetime.

The cost of the procedure is very high and even more so is the physical rehabilitation costs associated with it.

The physical rehab is extremely significant and requires diverse and intense daily treatments for 2 years following the procedure.

For the first stage of our journey, we are hoping to raise around 900,000NIS,or $250,000.

All money raised will be used for Gal’s surgery(not covered by our insurance), for the 2 year rehab following the surgery(also not covered), for our travel expenses and living expenses (as we are originally from Israel), and for our lack of income as we have to take leaves from our jobs while living in the United States.

Join us on Gal’s Journey and help us give our little boy a chance for a life free of pain, deformities, and daily struggles that children his age shouldn't ever know.

Your donations will help us see Gal take his first steps.

Please help us any way you can.

Share, donate, pray and take part of our journey- Gal’s Journey.

We can’t thank you enough. Our hearts are filled with love and appreciation for each and every one of you,

Yana, Ariel and Gal.
