Gainesville Transgender Day of Remembrance 2024

Hello,

TranQuility Transgender Community Group and Pride Community Center of North Central Florida is organizing TDOR - Transgender Day of Remembrance this year and we are asking for donations to put on this important event.

The 5 founding groups are: TranQuility, Unspoken Treasure Society, Pride Student Union, The UF LGBT+ Affairs Cabinet, PCCNCF. Numerous other community organizations are doing their part as well and will be present at the event.

The candlelight vigil to honor those that we have lost to violence and hate this year will be held at Bo Diddley Plaza in Gainesville, Fl. on Wednesday, Nov. 20th, 2024 from 7pm to 9:30pm.

Timeline of event:

7pm introduction and history of event

7:10pm Mayor Ward will read the TDOR proclamation

7:20pm performances

7:40pm the reading of the names (NOTE: cause of death will not be included)

8:45pm closing and open microphone for speakers from the audience.

Event will end by 9:30pm

The funds will be used for BDP rental, sound equipment, City permits, police presence (will be LGBT+ police officers), parking, event insurance, and materials. Please donate if you are able to this important event.

A mini trans flag will be given out to all who come to the event. Electric tea light candles will be provided to participants. Hot cider and handwarmers will be provided by PFLAG if the weather is cold.
