Gainesville FL Sinkhole Tragedy
To all of our friends, family, community and those who are most generous and caring. My name is Teenge. My wonderful sister Yvette Elkin and her husband Martin have been living in torment for the last little while. There beloved home, for which they have spent their life savings on, is very close to sinking because of a sinkhole that has devastated their neighborhood in Gainesville, FL. They have been forced to evacuate as their home as been deemed a danger to live in. They managed to remove their most memorable belongings and placed them in storage, however, they currently have no stable shelter to live in. Even though they have pleaded with the insurance company for assistance, there is no support that is being offered and they are still obligated to make their mortgage payments on a home that they cannot live in. They simply cannot afford another place to live because of the burden of making the mortgage payments. My heart is aching for both of them. They are pillars of their community and have done so much to help others in needed. Their heartfelt belief in God and community, and to help those who were less fortunate than them is exemplary. They are now in need. I ask all those who they have helped in the past, and all of their loving friends and neighbors, to help as much as you can. Any amount that you can donate, big or small, will forever be appreciated by all of us. Their house is so close to being absorbed this sinkhole that 5 years of loving memories will go down with the house as well. My sincere thanks appreciation to all of those who will consider helping my cherished sister and brother-in-law.
My hope is to give them same shelter in their time of need, and to give them the financial ability to move on from the most devastating experience of their lives.
The sinkhole is moving 2 1/2 feet per day towards their home and it is just a matter of time because the home becomes a mere memory. May God bless you all. Please keep them in your prayers and spirits.
