Imagine this was your mother. Your sister. Your best friend.
You’ve just survived a brutal two-year battle with breast cancer. Chemo, surgery, radiation — you’ve endured it all. You think the worst is behind you. You start to breathe again. Dream again. Hope again.
But then, just when the clouds begin to part, you're hit with news that takes your breath away:
The treatment that saved your life has now triggered something even more deadly.
This is Gail Cannon’s story, my beloved Mother.
Gail is a vibrant, kind, and faith-filled 61-year-old woman — a mother, a friend, a fighter — who was just beginning to look forward to her retirement, spending more time with her daughters, Violet and Kade, and enjoying the golden years she worked so hard for.
But in May 2025, after noticing unusual bruising, Gail was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bone marrow cancer. Her doctors believe it was caused by the toxicity of chemotherapy from her breast cancer treatment — a devastating irony. Less than 0.5% of patients develop this, making her case extraordinarily rare and challenging.
Her oncologist gave her the unthinkable news: without a bone marrow transplant, she may not survive the year.
Gail sought care from one of the best cancer centers in the world — the Mayo Clinic. But unfortunately, her insurance through the Veterans system doesn’t cover treatment there. The cost of the transplant and associated care could reach between $80,000 and $400,000. And that doesn’t even begin to touch the emotional toll.
Before the transplant, Gail must undergo another intense round of chemotherapy and radiation. Then, doctors will infuse healthy stem cells to replace her damaged bone marrow. The process is grueling. Finding a donor could be a race against time.
And yet — Gail still has hope.
Despite the fear, the pain, and the uncertainty, Gail continues to put her faith in God. Telling her daughters about the new diagnosis was heartbreaking, but she remains strong for them. She believes in miracles. And today, you could be part of one.
Will you help give Gail a fighting chance at life?
Your donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly toward helping Gail access the life-saving treatment she needs. She has come so far. Please don’t let this be where her story ends.
Let’s stand with Gail. Let’s be her miracle.
