My husband was working on Wednesday afternoon when he had a life threatening accident & is currently in ICU. He works in granite & marble. Around 6:00pm my husband had to move a small piece of granite that was in front, When he picked it up two larger pieces fell on him. His fingers got stuck so he wasn’t able to get out of the way on time. He broke his pelvis & leg. He currently has two large screws in his pelvis & is awaiting surgery for his leg. When they started talking to him about the hospital bills my husband gave them his bosses number. On Friday they let us know that his boss claimed that my husband was a self contractor & he isn’t untitled to workman’s comp. My husband has been working for the company for over a year now & has been working 12+ hours a day. He is definitely not a self contractor he is an employee. We never wanted any type of compensation for his injury’s all that we asked was that they payed the hospital bills but they refuse to. He could’ve lost his life. He was crying out for me & our 5 year old son while he was laying on the ground lifeless & they had absolutely no sympathy. His boss looked more upset about the accident rather than worried. His boss thinks that since my husband is an immigrant he doesn’t have any right to sue him & he should just be thankful he even got a job. My husband is the most hard working, loving man I know, he would’ve even returned to work in a wheelchair if he had to. He doesn’t deserve this. I decided to do this to help pay for his surgery while we get his case started. Anything helps. Our son is going to school Monday-Thursday for only 3 hours at a time so I’m trying to work afternoons but my son & husband need my constant attention. I’m really trying to work & make enough to get by but with the all the bills coming in it’s becoming extremely difficult. Since I wasn’t the one injured a lot of our bills aren’t giving us extensions since they’re all under my name. Thank you for all your support & we appreciate anything that can be given.
