Honoring the memory of Gael Fletcher and supporting her family by raising funds to help cover the cost of her funeral.
We are not sure where or even how to begin. So, we will start by saying that we hope you will Help us to support a local family who live in a rural community in Argyll who have suddenly found themselves without a Wife, Mum, Nana and Daughter. Gael was only 49 years young and sadly the family have no provisions to pay for a funeral, but who would when you have a young family!
On 2nd January 2024, this tragedy struck, as Gael Fletcher was driving her daughter and young grandson home from her parents. Gael suddenly felt very unwell. She thankfully had the forethought to pull over and stop her car. Gael collapsed and had to wake her 14-year-old daughter and ask her to call 999 as she was really struggling to breath.
Can you Imagine being on a road in the dead of night, no street lighting in a very rural location on the west coast of Scotland and not being able to give your exact location to the Ambulance Controller, especially at such a youthful age? Well, that was the position Gaels young daughter found herself in! She very Bravely tried to flag down a passing vehicle, thankfully one car stopped. (Occupants are still unknown to the family, but if You Are that person, the family say Thank You So Much for all you tried to do to help Gael) The occupants of the vehicle did all they could to help and conducted CPR until an ambulance arrived on scene. Those kind strangers and the ambulance crew did absolutely everything they could but sadly it was too late, Gael had passed away.
At the time of writing this the family are unfortunately unaware of exactly what caused Gael’s death and will continue to have so many questions until the postmortem is conducted.
Gael was someone who did not have a great deal of money, however to her she was rich because her family were her absolute everything, along with her animals. If a friend was ever in need no matter what the problem Gael was always happy to help no matter what time of day or night it was, and we know if she could she would have given you the shirt off her back if she believed it would help you, an example of this was when Gael completely unprompted actually started a Go Fund me herself after Storm Babet in October 2023 which affected a young local couple who had only just opened up their small street food business in our small village, and by doing this they were able to carry out repairs and reopen much sooner thanks to the generosity of the community who donated and Gael’s fast thinking response to help them out. Gael had previously worked at the early learning center within Lochgoilhead Primary School, caring for a variety of young children, some of whom have various disabilities, this was a role Gael had taken very seriously and also very personally, she had a huge impact and influence in a lot of the younger children’s early learning, Gael was very much loved and adored by all of the children. No matter what was going on for Gael she would always greet you with a big smile and was always so Thankful for what she had, Gael truly was one of a kind.
Gael has left behind a grieving and utterly heartbroken family; this has been a huge shock and a massive loss for them all. Gael leaves behind her husband two young teenage children, two adult children and three incredibly young grandchildren one who is only a month old. They were all Gael’s world and her reason for being. The family now, are sadly left with facing the challenges of navigating life without their beloved Wife/Mum/Nana/daughter.
Our hope is that with Your Help to raise funds we can come together as a community to help cover the costs involved with a funeral to at least be able to try and ease just a little of the burden for this whole family. Should we be fortunate to raise any excess funds, these will go towards supporting her beloved family/children.
We know people are struggling with the cost of living but if you could donate, does not matter if it is £1 or £100 by doing this You will have helped to alleviate a great deal of the financial pressures this family are going to be feeling.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about what has happened and about Gael herself. You Can All Help it does not matter if it is by simply sharing this Go Fund Me to help promote this or if you can Share and donate that would be simply amazing.
