Help the Gaddis family
Donation protected
I met Tony and Alicia when I spent a year in Hawaii. Oddly enough we were both from Kentucky! They were so welcoming and while Tony was on a deployment I spent time with Alicia and her children. Please considering donating to this family with their mounting medical bills and having to stay in Louisville at this time

"Please excuse all misspelled words and bad grammar. It's been a long day. Yesterday June 5th Mason was in a 4 wheeler accident. Long story short he was on with an adult but things went bad and there was a wreck that led to bad head trauma. He was sent to Owensboro's ER where they stabilized him. 25 doctors took on this task. They finally stabilized him enough to fly him to Kosairs. During all this time Alicia did not get to be next to him and my brother Tony was 11 hours away (he is in the navy). Once we got to Kosairs different trauma teams would come in to talk to us to update us on his status. They had different teams and were amazing. Let me tell you 3 things: Where we were, how far God has brought him, specific prayers for the day.
We were told most of his teeth were missing, major head trauma, unconscious, jaw completely exposed, fractured skull, 3 broken ribs, possible blood around lungs, and possible nerve damage or hearing loss. In the past 24 hours they have put a tube in his brain to monitor swelling on the brain (we have had little to no swelling) It was confirmed that other than the 3 broken ribs there seems to be no internal damage to anything below the collar bone. Lungs are both functioning great. He has a tube in for breathing and now for feeding. They stitched him up beautifully on his face. He does have a fracture to his skull in which they put a metal plate in to push that back out. The left side of his face right now will need some tender loving care (that's more long term) They are getting a dental surgeon team to come look at his mouth. They think his jaw may be broken so they do have this kinda neck, jaw brace looking thing to keep it in place. Unfortunately right now there is discussion of wiring his jaw shut to fix that. There was also talk of taking the tube out of his side that was for his lung (not definite yet). They are keeping him highly sedated but every now and then they slowly take him off to see how brain reacts and if swelling appears. They also want to see if he will breathe on his own so they can eventually taking breathing tube out.
God has done so much to show us he is here and taking care of the situation. This maybe a long journey but it is one the doctors have said "he is a fighter and we are cautiously optimistic" He has opened his eyes a couple of times and when my brother finally got here at 7am this morning (he drove straight through the night) would not leave his side til he saw his eyes open. praise the Lord he opened them for a moment saw Tony and reached for his face!!! He recognized him!
Pray for continue of no swelling, fevers stay away, he breathes continuously on his own, and rest for a very tired mommy and daddy!! We have gotten a couple of lunches and there is a hospitality house that has a shower and 4 twin beds that we got for being parents of patient at Kosairs for. $35 a night. They will do naps and showers here. Very thankful for people thinking of my and Alicia's family!! We have no family in Louisville nor does Alicia which makes things a little disconnected for us. Mike and I have great friends here that have taken us in which has been a blessing for us (with 2 kids). Layla and cole are with family.
I will continue to update as we get updates. we are optimistic and know that our God is good all the time. there is rest for the weary."
