My name is Gabriela Salgado I am a thirty year old female with Cerebral Palsy. This disability has left me confined to a wheelchair with limited use of my legs. All my life I have been told of what I cannot do. This has caused me to play it safe and not take many risks. Well, I am looking to challenge myself. I am eager to train for and complete the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 2016. In order to do this, I would need to use an adaptive hand bike. A hand bike is a bike that is propelled by a person using his or her hands instead of their legs. Any hand bike I was to use would require certain modifications to meet my physical needs and abilities. In addition to challenging myself, I am hoping that my completing this marathon would raise funds for a local organization. United Cerebral Palsy Sequin prides itself in providing various services for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Unfortunately, the monetary cost of a hand bike is one that I cannot afford. I am asking for your assistance in making my dream a reality. Your donation would not only be helping me but so many others. No donation is too small any amount would be greatly appreciated.
