Gabriel's Trumpet - Short Film Festival Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi there! Welcome to the crowdfunding page for the festival run of our short film 'Gabriel's Trumpet'.
To explain who we are and what we're doing... we're Niall McCloskey and Thomas Bennett; a Belfast based directing, writing and visual art duo; by trade we work freelance in the Northern Irish Film and TV industry.
As a creative duo, we've been working together for two years now; having collaborated on a variety of projects, most recent being our award winning short film ‘‘In Wake of John Doyle’. Together our work has been selected for the BAFTA affiliated Belfast Film Festival, DIFF (Dublin International Film Festival), The British Short Film Awards and more!

Written and directed by Thomas and produced by Niall, we look to continue upon our successful trajectory with this latest work: 'Gabriel's Trumpet'.
- What is Gabriel's Trumpet?
'Set amidst a crumbling Belfast, Gabriel’s Trumpet is a hi-8 mystery short film that plunges into the disappearance of a young man and the pursuit that follows.'

We've been shooting the short since November and having recently wrapped production here in Belfast, we're now looking ahead to post-production and our festival run! The funds raised will be used to get Gabriel's Trumpet in front of as wide-an audience as possible. Film Festivals are an essential part of any film-makers progression, they provide a platform to network, help gain publicity for the film, open doors to distributors and financiers as well as show-casing the hard work of our local cast and crew.

We feel Gabriel's Trumpet represents the indie/experimental side of the Northern Irish film scene, a side that needs greater representation across Ireland and beyond. We have sought to tell a story that defies the conventional narratives of Belfast and investigates the city and it's people through a fresh perspective.
We're keeping our goals realistic for this fundraiser and are setting a £500 internal goal with some minor stretch goals if we push past our £500 target! Anybody who has made a short before knows that a festival run can be pricey and we hope to raise some funds to help cut-down on our end. Below are some of the stretch goals we have for raising funds:
- £500 - this will all go towards festival submission costs for our initial run.
- £600-£700 - if we hit this goal we'll be putting in for some larger festivals such as Berlin, Venice or TIFF!
- £700 and over - if we push past £700, any remaining funds will be fully donated to the Film and TV Charity as a contribution to their mental health charity.
We want to make sure to give back to anybody who donates so if you do we'll give you a special thanks in the credits and invite you personally along to our cast/crew/family screening in Belfast later this year!
On a personal note, thank you for any help you can provide, every penny counts and we're eternally thankful for any and all help provided.
