Gabriel's journey to Nationals!

Hello! My name is Ranel Heard and I am the proud mother of Gabriel Heard. Gabriel is in the 8th grade at Toledo Early College and has always been very diligent when it comes to his scholastic responsibilities. He recently competed at the state level in Columbus for the National History Day competition and qualified to advance to the national competition in College Park, Maryland! His winning documentary is titled "Nina Simone: Enforcing the Power of the Human Voice (the Power to Make a Change)." We are so proud of Gabriel; he is the first junior high school student to advance to nationals from Toledo Early College!

Gabriel is a very mature, caring, goal-oriented, talented, spiritual, and intelligent young man. Gabriel has always found enjoyment in developing videos and short films and learned early on he was quite skilled at it. This is an AMAZING step in his journey as he prepares to hone and build his skills in this field through higher education.

Gabriel also loves playing his guitar and the piano, both of which he taught himself to play. Gabriel is a middle child and is a great role model to his younger brother and is following in his older brother's footsteps, who competed at nationals last year!

Gabriel's father and I are so proud of him and want to be sure he has the opportunity to get to nationals, in which the award for first place is a $10,000 scholarship! We welcome any support in helping us with this due to having to plan and prepare for this with little over a month to do so.
