My little 6 year old nephew Gabby was diagnosed with Leukemia 4 weeks ago - Gabriel is a very smart, active, happy little guy and out of the blue - he experienced some bloody noses, headaches, tummy aches and his lips looked pale … a trip to the doctor lead to immediately sending him to the hospital where he stayed in ICU for weeks, followed by the start of intensive Chemo.
His little body has reacted poorly to the Chemo and he is back living in the hospital to monitor his blood and keep him safe from this crazy world of infection.
His mom Sarah has had to take a leave from her job and my brother Kurt who is a pilot that is normally away from home for 10 days at a time is staying home from his job too- they also have a beautiful 4 year old daughter Giana (Gia) so either Sarah or Kurt stays at the hospital with Gabby while the other try’s to keep Gia’s life as normal as possible. Since only 2 people are allowed in the hospital to see Gabby - they can’t all 3 visit at the same time .
Gabby is at Arnold Palmers Children Hospital in downtown Orlando- an amazing place with a caring staff- it is 45 minutes and $10 in tolls and gas each way from their home combine the travel and food expenses with really crazy hospital stay, doctor, chemo treatments.. the out of pocket expenses are mounting at an alarming rate.
Any help you can provide this family to help support Gabriel’s hard work to fight this horrible cancer is appreciated- he has a treatment plan that extends 2 years of Chemo. Thank you for your consideration and your prayers for this family.
