Gabrielle’s Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Gabrielle had her first seizure when she was 7 months old, when she was ill.  She was taken to IRMC in Vero Beach and there she ended up having another febrile seizure lasting over 20 minutes.  She was then rushed to Saint Mary's in WPB, FL and there she stayed 4 days for testing.  Febrile seizures were the end diagnosis.  She continued to have seizures, absence seizures and staring spells discovered by her parents.
For the next 7-8 years, no diagnoses were determined with 7 24-hour eegs all being negative.  Over this time, absence seizures then changed, until she started having complex-partial and focal seizures.  Last year she was referred to a new neurologist and on the first 48 hour eeg, she was noted to have several seizures in her sleep.  After MRIs, confirmation was made that she has been diagnosed with Mesial Temporal Sclerosis (scarring on the Right temporal lobe) -most likely from loss of oxygen to the brain over the years when seizures went undiagnosed and no treatment (meds).
Over this past year, Gabrielle has failed 4 seizure medications, CBD oil, and also the Keto diet to help treat her seizures.  Gabrielle's seizures have continued to worsen the older she has gotten.
Gabrielle been going through several tests in Orlando and just last week had a 120 hour video eeg at Arnold Palmer Hospital.  Gabrielle is now undergoing several tests to determine a date for temporal lobe brain surgery to remove the scar tissue that they have determined is causing her seizures.  This will result in additional costs to her parents, Audra and Kyle, who both work full-time and also have another child.  Audra and Kyle have been splitting the time and taking shifts to stay with Gabrielle during the tests and hospital stays.  Another 120 hour eeg is scheduled on December 10-15th for more testing and then Gabrielle's case will go to conference to determine when she will have the surgery. Surgery will likely take place next summer so that she doesn't have to miss anymore school this year. The costs will increase prior to surgery due to testing, during the surgery due to hospitalization, and post surgery due to rehabilitation. Medical bills have already started coming in and are already taking their toll on the family of four.
Kyle and Audra will need assistance with medical bills, lodging, additional medications, and back and forth travel as Gabrielle is seen in Orlando, FL for all testing and treatment at this time, resulting in more time off of work for both parents and increased medical bills, as well as still caring for their youngest daughter, Charlotte.
Gabrielle goes to public school in Vero Beach and is in 5th grade.  She also LOVES fast pitch softball and plays locally for the Vero Beach Warriors 12U travel ball association.  She is a pitcher with the team and loves to be on the field or on the water fishing with her Daddy. Any donation, large or small is so appreciated.  If unable to donate, please keep Gabrielle, Kyle, Audra, and Charlotte in your prayers!
