Hello friends and family! As many of you know I have been pursuing my CrossFit career for a few years now and have recently made the leap to train down south in Lynden, Washington. In December 2021, I took the chance on myself to quit my job at Starbucks, move away from my immediate family and pursue my goal of making it to the CrossFit semi-finals. I am very happy to say that I accomplished that goal last year, finishing (?) out of 30 elite women in my first competition at this level at the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge 2022! I am back this year, not only to make it back to semis (which will be held in Pasadena this May), but to continue to pursue my ultimate goal of making it t the CrossFit games.
Taking the leap of faith December 2021 was terrifying. I always have struggled with self-doubt and holding myself back from giving my all in fear of failure. I would say “well, if I don’t put myself fully out there, then when I fail nobody will really notice”. I hid behind this way of thinking for a long time, and it held me back. I have had the chance to work with some amazing elite athletes in my time training at CrossFit i1uvit in Lynden, building on my foundation of training that I received from Pure Fitness CrossFit in Red Deer. This time of high-level training has put me to the test, not only physically, but mentally and has forced me to face the fear of what has held me back head-on.
Why is this goal? I feel strongly led by God to chase this dream. I believe that we are given gifts and bodies that are able to do amazing things, and I am on a journey to reach my athletic potential, giving God and his creation all the credit along the way.
I am so thankful for everybody that has been behind me on this journey, offering everything from financial support to kind words. A lot of time and money goes into training at this level and I am asking that anyone who feels led, and is able to, to assist with the financial part of my journey to the semi-finals in May (which I still need to qualify for, taking place March 16-19). The money that is donated is not only going to go towards my training for the event, but the transportation, housing, entry fees, and fuel (aka food) for this event.
When I go to train every day and prepare myself, I don’t think of it just being me. Nobody gets anywhere by themselves. It feels like I have an army of friends behind me and that is what pushes me when I feel like stopping. I’m not just representing myself, I first represent God, then my family, and all the people that are so important to me.
Thank you so much to everyone - I could not do this without you!
