Gabrielle's Recovery Fund

Hello, our names are Erica and Jordaen and we have created this account to help our sister, Gabrielle (Brie) McIntire in her recovery from a car wreck. We are doing all we can to help lift some of her worries while she works on healing.


Gabrielle was involved in a rollover accident. She was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Grand Rapids shortly after first responders arrived on scene. After arriving at the emergency department doctors quickly discovered she had many injuries, some quite critical.


The injuries that Gabrielle will be working so hard to heal from are very painful. She had a dislocated hip as well as two hip fractures, fractured femoral head and acetabulum, on one side. She also fractured both tibia and fibula in her left leg as well as an ankle on that same leg. As if this weren’t enough, Brie has also fractured many ribs, a few vertebrae (spine intact!!!), and her sacrum (lower portion of the spinal column). Thankfully she sustained little organ damage; she has a partially collapsed lung and a grade 1 lacerated spleen. These injuries should heal themselves.


Up to now, she has had a few major procedures done along with x-rays and cat scans. On Sunday evening, in order to stabilize her hip fracture she had to be placed in traction. She was medically unable to receive anymore pain meds or anesthesia, so she had to endure the pin placement and weight attachment while awake! On Monday afternoon, she had surgery to further try to stabilize that same hip, they also placed pins/rods in her lower leg fractures, and a screw in her ankle to help everything heal the way it should. Tomorrow, she is looking at having another surgery to fix her fractured acetabulum.



Brie's orthopedic doctor has told us that she will be in a wheelchair for a minimum of three months. During this time she will be working hard with physical therapy to rehabilitate her entire lower body.


Any money donated to this campaign will be used for medical bills that may accumulate. It will also be used for regular everyday expenses, as Brie will be out of work for quite some time. We will need to build a ramp at her home and there will inevitably be other costs that we are unaware of at this moment.


Thus far, Brie has endured incredible pain but remained unimaginably strong. Just this afternoon she was cracking jokes and giving us that gorgeous smile of hers.
