Dear Friends & Family,
Last year many of you were generous supporters as I ran my first marathon ever! You helped me raise more than $26,200 ($1,000 for every mile I ran) for a worthy cause and have now inspired me to run again, but this time in Arlington, VA in the Marine Corp Marathon.
As you may recall, I ran last year to raise money for the organization, Gabrielle’s Wings, which was named after my daughter’s (Gabrielle Marie) best friend (Gabrielle Eileen) who we lost tragically two years ago.
Thanks to your generosity, the foundation has offered more children around the world increased access to educational and cultural enrichment opportunities.
This year, I chose to run the Marine Corp Marathon to honor my nephew who became a Marine earlier this year, and I am running this race to raise funds for Gabrielle Eileen’s Mother, my childhood friend for over 30 years.
The amount of debt my friend has incurred to fight for the last 2 years is unfathomable.
Since June 6, 2017, my friend has had to:
· Fight to divorce the man who committed this heinous crime
· Fight to legally get her identity back
· Fight the banks to release her from the financial burden tied to the home of this vicious act
· Fight to get the medical treatments she now needs
· Fight for justice when there is no justice
· Fight to get out of bed each day
I have prayed and thought hard about this and while my friend has some reservations about asking, if any of her pain or suffering can be alleviated through financial support, it is worth it.
So this year my 26.2 mile run will once again be in memory of our beloved Gabrielle Eileen and her Mother, my dear friend. Hopefully your donations can offer some relief to a now childless mother, who in addition to grappling each day with an unimaginable loss, also grapples with extensive financial challenges as a result of this nightmare.
Thank you in advance for offering me support and motivation as I undertake this grueling physical challenge. And thank you for considering the opportunity to offer some peace and support to a mother in need.
