Gabriella’s 5k a day in November for GCH Charity

Hi, my name is Gabriella and I’m the mum of an amazing little girl Aria!

As some of you may know my daughter was born with some congenital conditions which left her needing surgery and an 8 week stay in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).

During Aria’s 8 week stay she had 3 major surgeries, 2 of which were in her first 24 hours earth-side and the 3rd a few weeks later. After Aria was discharged she needed 2 further surgeries and we were, and still are, frequent visitors of The Royal Hospital for Children.

Although it isn’t plain sailing, Aria’s time in hospital has always been made that little bit easier by the work of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. From the play team and Giggles the Clown to the iPads for VCreate to send updates when I had to leave her in Intensive Care, their work is incredible. The murals on the wall and the displays in the foyer create such warm feeling that you almost forget it’s a hospital you’re in. The charity also fund medical equipment, research and family support services. None of these things would be possible without donations.

I feel I will never be able to fully repay The Royal Hospital for Children for the things they have done for Aria, my family and I, however, I plan do my best!

So, as a way to fundraiser for GCH Charity I plan to walk 5k every day in November no matter the weather. I have chosen 5k as this is the amount of major surgeries Aria has received and the month of November as this is when she was discharged from NICU and was finally allowed to come home with me.

Any donation or shares of our story would not only mean the world to us but all the other families and children who benefit from the work of the charity.
