Gabriel Williams' College Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Gabe, and I'm fundraising for college. I'll always be grateful for the opportunities I receive, and I know how privileged I am to be in college. I'm in my third semester at Sewanee: The University of the South. Unfortunately, I haven't covered my bill for next semester. I receive academic and art-related merit scholarships along with other financial aid totaling $59k. However, there's $12k more to be paid. Covering the remaining cost by myself has been difficult. Taking out a private loan bumped the cost down a bit, giving me a fundraising goal of $7.5k. I've got loans stacking up that are unlikely to be paid off if they increase much more, considering my goals in the future. I'm an Art major at Sewanee, so financially, my future is rocky. I love creating artwork that makes people excited about life, art, and creativity. Studying art and attending a liberal arts school like Sewanee has changed my life. I hope to see my program through to the end. As hard as it is to ask for help with something so selfish, I've been told to accept generosity as long as I make the most of the opportunities it provides.

All the money I raise goes straight to my tuition bill. I'm working part-time while in school and selling my artwork to raise money. I've been accepted into a study abroad program for next semester at Burren College of Art in Ireland. Burren offers one of the world's most personalized and in-depth undergraduate art programs. Sewanee provides financial coverage for study abroad programs, so I'll be on my way to Ireland once I pay my tuition bill.

With the Art Professors and Chair of the department backing me, I'm working on an appeal with the financial aid office. In the meantime, I'm genuinely grateful for any assistance you may be willing to provide.
