On the morning of Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, our dad was tragically struck and killed by a drunk driver. He was heading home after a night out with his girlfriend, Maria. Maria was driving, and my dad had just closed his eyes to get some rest in the passenger seat. They were struck from behind by a speeding vehicle, which took my dad's life instantly. Maria has recently been released from the local hospital.

Gabriel Martinez Sr. was a father to two, my sister Casiana and myself. He was also a grandfather to my sister's two beautiful kids, Catalina and Christian. His primary purpose had shifted to moving back to Las Vegas to be a part of his grandchildren's everyday lives. After almost ten years in California, our dad was finally coming back home to Las Vegas. He had spoken recently to us about how excited and ready he was to be a full-time grandpa. Our dad is the reason I love the things I do today. He taught me all I know about sports, God and the importance of family.

If you had the opportunity to know our dad, you would know what a great man he was. He loved his family, friends and his job. Throughout all his years working, he created friendships with some amazing people he would proudly call family. Our family is broken, but together we will embrace who my dad was and celebrate the life he lived.

Our goal is to raise funds to help put our dad to rest the way he would have wanted. We don't want his sudden and unfair death to be why his life isn't celebrated as it should be. We thank you in advance, and may his memory be a blessing to everyone.
