I was supposed to be a New Years baby. Instead of ringing in the new year, I got stuck 16 weeks in the past. Instead, I was born October 1, 1990. My premature birth left me oxygen deprived. As my 1lb body clinged to life an incubator, I was supplied with too much life-giving oxygen. I made it. Unfortunately my sight didn't.
Due to this over oxygenation, I have a condition called Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). I have no sight in my right eye, and only 20% usable vision on the left. I'm not sad or mad anymore because I don't know what i've never missed. All i'd like is a chance to see what others do. That chance has arrived.

Technology has made the world alot more accessible to the visually impaired. A Canadian company, eSight , are makers of electronic glasses that will allow me full vision in my left eye. They work via a headset (think Star Trek) which houses a high def, high res camera that broadcasts live video into two screens in my field of vision. This is a game-changer for me and others like me. It's a $10,000 gamechanger though. That's where you come in. A chance at leading a fully independent and happy life is priceless.
As I finally am ready to explore who I am and my place in this wonderful world, i'd like to do it on a level playing field this time. This is a reset button, doors that have been closed to me, now become open. Dreams not full realized, may happen. My life will finally begin.
