Hello friends and family. Today we are coming to you in search of support.
A few weeks ago a young man named Gabriel De La Cruz that we know and love was diagnosed with leukemia.
We met Gabe and his family through sports, and from that we became family.
Gabe is in the midst of the hardest challenge of his life. And if you know Gabe, you know that he attacks challenges head on. With strength and passion. But needless to say, he and his family need our help. Just like in sports, no one can win on their own.
It’s easy to talk about Gabe in terms of sports. Because that’s what he is. An athlete. He is an athlete in the truest form. Not only the physical part of it. But the entire package of mental toughness, combined with the ultimate teammate mentality, that transcends the field. If you know him, then you know exactly what I mean. If you don’t know him. He is that kid. The one with the killer instincts on the field. And the leadership slash comrade in the dugout / sideline that every coach and teammate needs.
On and off the field, his respectful personality and confidence shine. He is a true reflection of his upbringing.
This news really hit home for those of us that know Gabe and his family personally. To say it is unfair for any child to have to deal with this is an understatement. This one hit so very close to home. He of all kids does not deserve this.
Make no mistake, Gabe will fight this with all his might. But as teammates and family we will be there every step of the way.
With that, we please ask that you help in any way possible. The family has a long road ahead of them. And your / our support will hopefully ease his road to recovery.
