Honoring Gabe Donnay -- Recording Studio Fund

Donation protected

Gabriel F. "Gabe" Donnay left this world on Monday, March 29, 2021, the victim of a tragic crime at his Los Angeles home, leaving an unfillable void in those who knew, respected, and loved him.

In memory of his spirit, generosity, and humility — and in celebration of Gabe's incredible musical career — his close friends and his family seek to give back in Gabe's name. Gabe's musical career was tragically cut short but his creative spirit can live on by helping other young musicians achieve their dreams. We plan to use the funds raised through this campaign to create the Gabe Donnay Recording Studio at Gilman School in Baltimore, Gabe's alma mater.

Satchmode began in 2013 as a collaboration between Gabe and fellow Baltimore native Adam Boukis before evolving into the four-piece arrangement. Gabe had been studying neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, but after graduating he decided to refocus on his passion for music, and he picked up and headed to Los Angeles to seek out new opportunities. Influenced by his years of study in many different musical traditions—including classical training on violin and piano as a kid, and later jazz, folk, and bluegrass—Gabe began to forge a style of his own while solidifying the band. Over the course of two EP's and the full-length Love Hz, Satchmode landed five singles on Spotify's Viral Top 50 chart across 12 countries and earned critical acclaim from W Magazine, Dancing Astronaut, Marie Claire, and many more.
