Gabe went to the emergency room and was admitted April 24th with severe stomach pain, after doing blood work and testing he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetes. Not long after being admitted he was put on dialysis and intubated for almost 3 weeks in a coma the whole time. During that time he had to get a procedure done to relieve pressure on his other organs, he aspirated and his heart stopped for 2 minutes. He was sent home and his wife had to care for him and clean where he had his procedure done. After 17 days of being home he went back to the hospital because he wasn't improving and was getting an infection from where he had his surgery. After almost 3 weeks he was intubated again because of fluid building up around his lungs, luckily this time it was only for a day, and now has 2 tubes in his abdomen to help drain the fluid. He seems to be improving but has a long road ahead of him with physical therapy and getting his strength back to be able to walk again. We really didn't know if he was going to make it, but we hoped and prayed for the best. And a lot of people sent prayers his way and we are so greatful for the love and support given towards him.
I may have left out some details so here's an overview, he was in a coma for over 3 weeks, he’s had several rounds of bad infection of which he’s had 4 surgeries on. He was on round the clock dialysis and was intubated for almost a month. He had a brief relapse where he had to be put back on dialysis and intubated again for a short period of time. I may have understate this physical impairment, as of right now he cannot walk and cannot get out of bed without medical help. He’s getting better but a very long road ahead the drs say.
His wife, Amanda, is the soul provider for the family now and trying her best but still having a hard time being able to pay bills and put food on the table for their family. It's hard to tell when Gabe will be strong enough and able to work again. Anything to help them will be greatly appreciated.
