Gabe the HLH Warrior Fights Leukemia

Gabriel (Gabe) Payne is a senior at Richlands High School who was diagnosed with HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) in May. Gabe fought this rare disease and won remission for nearly two months. Anyone who has had the absolute pleasure of meeting him knows what an absolute sweetheart Gabe is.
The week his senior year was to begin, he developed familiar symptoms and after countless labs and tests over the past month, we still don’t have an answer. He was admitted to Carilion Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, VA Sunday after his pain became uncontrollable at home.
Gabe’s platelets have been critically low for 5 weeks leading to sporadic episodes of bleeding and he has required around the clock supervision; his parents have depleted their PTO and are now looking at another lengthy hospital stay. With two other children at home, they’re quite unsure what they’re going to do.
Any donations will be used for Gabe’s care as well as travel to Roanoke and back for the foreseeable future. Words simply do not exist to describe the grateful family you would be donating to; if you can’t give, please share. Thank you.
