Our friend and co-worker Gabe Messmer was injured while working in January 2016. I have seen his financial struggles since. We would like to see him be able to support himself again. We are hoping we can get him the financial help he needs while he does his rehabilitation and training to begin a new career. -Jon Greenley and Jon Carlblom.
Here is Gabes story told by his older sister Danielle
My Brothers name is Gabriel Messmer. (he wouldn't want anyone to think he needs any help) He is a 33 year old pipe welder from the Fargo area. He was working at 20 plus feet when he fell while working. He sustained multiple injuries Broken ribs, broken thumb, a torn Labrum muscle in his hip, neck and head injury along with the worst injury of all (especially for a welder) a crushed elbow. The initial surgery to repair his elbow was unsuccessful. After months of pain he was referred to the Mayo clinic in Rochester MN. The doctors determined that his elbow could not be repaired. They opted to replace his elbow with a complete prostetic elbow replacement. This surgery has now limited him to only being able to ever pick up 10 lbs again. Gabe has a long road in front of him as he still has severe headaches and back pain. He has not been able to work since the time of the accident. He is looking at more surgeries to correct his back and neck. These are the things that can be fixed physically. He also has had the emotional and financial issues of trying to figure out how to support himself while being retrained in another career. The workmans compensation isn't enough to cover his expenses and is in dire need of finacial help. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Please keep Gabe in your prayers.
