Contribute to Gabby's healing journey
Two weeks ago, my sister, Gabby was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. After a scan, the doctors have detected a dozen polyps and a mass the size of an orange.
While Gabby has carried symptoms and pain for some time, due to insufficient insurance was refused to be seen by doctors for months. It has already been a significant battle with our medical system just to find doctors and hospitals that would work with her to help her uncover this terrible news. We are grateful to report she now has secured an Oncologist and Radiologist. Now, an even tougher battle begins as she prepares to begin both radiation and chemotherapy.
Your financial support - even a few dollars, means the absolute world. Gabby works incredibly hard to support herself and would never ask for help on her own behalf. Yet now, she faces the reality of having to travel 80 miles 5x a week for treatments. The financial strain of daily travel, doctor's bills, and loss of work is overwhelming. Gabby has been a wonderful friend to so many and a loving member of every community she touches. I know we can rally together to support her now in this journey to fight cancer.
Ways you can help today:
- Any donation to this page to finance Gabby's treatment and travel to dr. visits.
- Whether you can contribute or not, please share this page on your social media. Every share helps us spread the word and reach our wider community.
- If you are local to the Ft. Walton Beach area in FL, rides to/from daily treatment are deeply needed and appreciated.
We thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts.
September 9th Update:
Gabby has begun radiation and soon, chemotherapy. She is receiving treatments 5x week and will be considered for surgery next month. Due to the size of the mass, and its attachment to many different organs, a specialized reconstructive surgeon must be sought out.
Unfortunately, with every new piece of information as this, an insurance battle ensues to find specialists that can take her health-market coverage.
Currently, she's only able to work 10-15 hours a week with all of the travel to and from treatment.
Thank you for your continued love, encouragement, and financial support. We are incredibly grateful.
December 19th Update:
After four months of fighting and taking treatments, we were hopeful a surgery could handle the rest. After meeting with the surgeons at Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa this evening, Gabby has received more difficult news.
The tumor is now considered T4, which means it extends through the colon wall and invades nearby organs and structures. This means four additional months of chemotherapy (which has already taken a significant toll on Gabby's health) are now required.
Surgery will still be necessary and the doctors have said this will severely affect Gabby's quality of life.
The heartbreak of fighting cancer is significant enough, but Gabby has faced additional struggles as many do, fighting to get proper health and insurance coverage, as well as the correct medical, advice and information.
We are far from the finish line and covet your thoughts, prayers, and any donation you may be able to contribute to help with the loss of ability to work and increased expenses due to hospital travel and medications.
