Mighty Gabby's Battle with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
After Gabby required surgery for a third time, twice in 90 days, cancer once again grew back in her brain, this time sooner than before with worse effects. All the while, Gabby studied her schoolwork!
She quickly went to Boston for an intense trial involving radiation for a week before returning to Quinnipiac, where Gabby was able to attend her graduation!
Gabby continues with a second more intense week consisting of nine more experimental radiation sessions as her doctors in New Jersey, New York, and Boston confer with each other to come up with recommendations for other trials.
Some experimental drugs have already begun and Gabby, along with her sister, parents, wonderful family and incredible friends apply their positive energy on the hope that these meds, and others, will eventually conquer the cancer.
These costly drugs are not all fully covered by insurance and some not at all. Additionally, expenses for travel, food, and related needs, are just part of the financial drain. Her parents are missing much work and taking on fewer clients adding to the stressful picture.
This sassy, determined, and strong 23 year old "kid" who has battled for nearly two years with her eye on graduating is not done. She hopes to continue her studies in the QU Occupational Therapy Masters program at some point, even as her classmates move on.
Your support will help her achieve this along with her greater future desire to connect with people, help them enjoy life by living independently, and to continue to make our world a better place in which to live!
