Help Gabby Heal After a Life-Changing Riding Accident

This Labor Day, what was supposed to be a relaxing trail ride turned into a nightmare for Gabby. She suffered a bilateral sacrum fracture— a devastating injury that has left her unable to walk without a walker and in constant pain when sitting or trying to do even the simplest of tasks.

Doctors have warned that with an injury this severe, there is a real and frightening risk of the spine shifting, which can lead to lifelong paralysis. Right now, the focus is on keeping her stable and giving her body the best chance to heal. Recovery could take 6 weeks or it could take 6 months. The surgeon told her that the pain could likely last the rest of her life. It is all very uncertain as it is going to depend a lot on her ability to relax the first couple weeks for the beginning stages of healing.

For those who know Gabby, you know she is strong, determined, and always the first to lend a hand when someone else is in need. She juggles two demanding jobs—working with racehorses and helping families find homes in real estate. Both of these jobs require her to be on her feet, drive, be active, and independent. But at this moment, those things simply aren’t possible.

As you know she is a single mom and not being able to work has left Gabby and her kids in a very uncertain place. The medical bills are already starting to add up as her insurance only covers 50% and she still has to think about:

• Keeping up with everyday living expenses

• Putting food on the table

• Caring for her beloved animals
