Bruce is fighting glioblatoma multiforme (GBM), a very aggressive brain cancer. He's had two surgical resections but they cannot remove all of the tumor surgically. He starts 6 weeks of radiation on Tuesday, October 6 at MD Anderson, which is more than 3 hours from his home, so he and the family will need a place to stay in Houston. While they fight this cancer, they've still got to pay mortgage and basic utilities on their home in Arlington. Transportation is another expense. Oh yeah, and food. And medical co-pays.

The family currently has no income. Applications for social security are pending, but we know that these things take eons to process, bills are mounting now, and the amount of money that comes in is never enough to cover real-life expenses.

Once they get through the 6 weeks of radiation, there will be a 3 to 4 week recovery period, and then Bruce will enter a clinical trial. With such an aggressive kind of cancer, it is essential that they receive treatment at a world leader like MD Anderson. Studies published earlier this year show a significant difference in survival when treatment is received from a large cancer center. Let's help give Bruce his best shot!
