Help us save this historic home!

Hello, I am Alex and I am trying to raise funds to repair my childhood home (where my parents currently live). This historic home was significantly damaged during Hurricane Ida. The roof was torn off the front of the house and the chimneys were blown down. The ceiling inside was knocked down and the two front rooms took the brunt of the damage. Bricks from the chimneys, wet insulation from the attic, and boards from the ceiling were blown into them and destroyed everything inside.

This family home was built in the 1880s, and has stood in its current location since about 1890. It has stood through many hurricanes and all kinds of inclement weather.

We are hoping to at least replace the roof, which will require new rafters and all new tin. This will cost around 20,000, and with both my parents are on a fixed income, we can use all the help we can get towards repairs.

The donations will go straight to my parents to hire contractors to replace the roof. Anything above and beyond that, will be used for other repairs (ie. hiring a contractor to rewire the front of the house, ceiling joist repair, replacement of molded insulation, plumbing repair).
