John Roberts

Hi all, my name is Sarah.

This fundraiser is in memory of my sisters long term partner of 10yrs, John Roberts.

The 8th June started off like any other day. However at 2am on the 9th June, my sister was awoken by a scenario that would turn her world upside down in one single moment. A knock at the door by the police with “caps in hand”. John was involved in a road traffic collision at around 11pm on the 8th June and died at the scene.

John was a larger than life character. Family, friends and all creatures great and small meant the world to him. He was an active member of the London Ambulance Service during Covid. He would always try to help where he could and he was a much loved member of the Lightwater community.

Unfortunately due to medical reasons, John couldn’t afford life insurance.

John left behind his best friend and buddy, his 4 1/2 yr old son “G”.

”G” knows that his daddy died and isn’t coming home. Hearing him explain this to you is heartbreaking. What do you say to a child when they tell you this??

I couldn’t be more proud of my sister with regards to how she is coping with each day. She has openly stated that she is petrified about what the future holds which is totally understandable. I have no idea how I would deal with the situation she is currently in. None of us would I think unless we’ve personally been there.

Friends and family are supporting as best as they can.

This fundraiser is to ask for support to help alleviate some of the funeral costs.

We cannot finalise plans for Johns funeral until we have had the coroners report so the funeral date and time will be announced in due course.

Personally, I would love to ensure that Laura and “G” have a special memorial plaque to go to, as and when they visit the Lightwater Country Park.
