My Mom’s Medical Emergency
Donation protected

This is my mother Jennifer Dixon. She works in Special Education with Autustic Children. She is/ was a Sunday School teacher and loves children and to help people in need. She is a brand new grandmother and a faithful person to her job, school, church and community.
My mother went into the hospital to get her fibroids removed. What should’ve been a 1 day procedure turned out to be an Ongoing Disaster. On Saturday morning my mother was found unresponsive and her body was beginning to become stiff. After going to the emergency room, her organs began to shut down, she was rushed into emergency surgery. After surgery she was on life support, dialysis, a wound vac, and a colostomy bag. The gynecological doctor, punctured her colon and bile and poison leaked into her system. Though my mother has insurance, it has been an uphill battle every since. The hospital wanted to release her early, she couldn’t breathe. They found a blood clot in her juggler vain after she kept complaining of pain and swelling in her neck. She can not stand up straight or walk without assistance. BlueCross BlueShield denied the rehab request and we had to appeal their decision. They finally called and said, we will approve 7 days. Finally, she was transferred to the Brian Center at Southpoint.
Currently, she is at the Brian Center. My mom is suppose to be getting rehab. The one nurse who is assigned refuse to change her colostomy bag. The nurse told her to hold a towel up against a leaking bag and that she wasn’t going to call the wound nurse. She expected her to keep the leaking bag of feces until Wednesday. It was Monday. She couldn’t receive physical therapy or occupational therapy because of the neglect of her colostomy bag.
My mother loves her job. She loves working with Autistic/ Special needs children. She is concerned about her bills and worries about her taking care of her household. Her intentions was to go back to work and now she is concerned about being able to get back to work. My aunts and I have been there to care for her at the Brian Center because they understand that the nurses are stretched. The only time that my mother ask for assistance is when it is a medically necessity. She is now in pain constantly and worrying about getting back to normal.
Any contributions will help and know that we are and she is very grateful. Continue to pray for us........
