Michael Stagnaro Medical Fund
Donation protected
Michael was diagnosed in April 2019 with a rare disease called Vasculitis GPA that causes inflammation of the vascular system and damages vital organs and tissues. The disease is attacking his heart, lungs, and kidneys. Michael is currently in ICU at Albany Medical Center receiving dialysis and plasmapheresis (plasma exchange therapy).
He has been treated by specialists at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and received Rituxan infusions in June that brought some relief. We were hopeful the meds would keep the disease in remission.
Unfortunately, Michael relapsed in November and was hospitalized for 11 days in Cooperstown. He was released for outpatient care but transported by ambulance back to the hospital last weekend when he had difficulty breathing.
A bronchoscopy showed bleeding in the lungs. He was medically transported from Cooperstown to Albany for the plasmapheresis. After 5 treatments he will return to Cooperstown so his specialists can determine a new course of action/medication to fight the disease.
Family, friends, and the community have been so supportive and many have encouraged creating this fund to contribute and stay connected. Medical expenses are already astronomical and more to come.
We are grateful for your concern, support, prayers, encouragement. If you care to contribute, please know we deeply appreciate your gift.
Check this page for updates. Most of you know Michael as someone who always puts others first. Now it's our turn to step up for him and turn this runaway train around.
Thank you for your support!
