UPDATE

Yesterday Penny left this earth alongside Eva, Doris and their support team.

In mid-December, Penny was admitted to the hospital with a collapsed lung and dangerously low oxygen levels. After further testing, her bloodwork revealed critically low platelets. More tests followed, and devastatingly, Penny was diagnosed with lung cancer. A blood transfusion was attempted, but sadly it did not help. Within days, Penny was placed on comfort care in the palliative cancer unit.

Eva is a single mom, and Penny has lived with her ever since Eva welcomed her beautiful daughter, Doris. Living together was the only way they could financially make ends meet. Now, Eva has been unable to work as she remains by her mom’s side 24/7, while also caring for her 7-year-old daughter, Doris, during Christmas break.

This all happened so suddenly, and the emotional toll is already overwhelming. Finances should be the very last thing this family has to worry about during such a heartbreaking time.
