Update: I apologize for taking so long. With Damian’s sudden and unexpected death, it’s been a rough couple of weeks for everyone who loves Dame.

There will be two opportunities to say goodbye to Damian.

Later this spring, I will be hosting an informal outdoor Celebration of Life. As many of you know, Damian always found traditional services to be sad and heavy, so I’ll be honoring him with a day focused on the things he loved—like the sunshine (or sunset, I'm still figuring out the logistics for a later event), nature, stories, and the presence of his two fur babies. I know he’d want our two dogs to be part of his send-off, so I look forward to having them there with us.

I will be recording this event with a special purpose in mind: I want to create a video for the recipients of his organ donations. This will give them a chance to see the man he was and learn just how amazing the person behind their 'second chance' truly was. I’m also planning to have a video station where his friends and family can share their personal Damian stories; this, too, will be shared with the recipients.

I will share more details for the spring celebration as the weather warms. Thank you for your continued love and patience.

After 20 years with my best friend and husband, I am feeling an ache that transcends explanation. This is a devastating reality I never thought I’d face.

As all of you already know, despite the tireless efforts of his medical team, Damian’s condition has not improved, and he has been declared brain dead. I’m sure Damian would’ve had a funny retort to me saying that—a sharp wit that we are all going to miss.
