It’s that time of year again! St. David’s Day is just around the corner, and the Chicago Tafia has arranged another night out to celebrate the occasion.
This year we will be celebrating in the rooftop lounge at the Cambria Hotel on 166 East Superior Street, Chicago, on Friday March 1st, 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
A suggested donation of $60 will get you on the guest list for a three hour open bar, and a selection of appetizers.
In addition to the St. David’s Day party, this year we will also be running an ad campaign on electronic billboards around the city and suburbs with “Happy St. David’s Day” messages created by the fine Milwaukee based Welsh graphic design company ‘Pretty Lethal Designs’.
We are in the process of contacting building owners around the city to light up their buildings Red, White & Green for the night, so far three prominent buildings on the Chicago skyline (The Wrigley Building, The InterContinental Hotel and Trump Tower) have all agreed to light up in the Welsh colours for the night, with hopefully one or two more buildings to confirm shortly.
Your donation will cover the celebration of St. David’s Day for the Welsh expats of Chicago. This fundraiser will offset the costs of food, beverage and venue fees at Cambria Hotel.
St. David’s Day is an important day in Welsh culture. More than pints, we come together to enjoy the song, spirit and solidarity of our homeland as an immigrant group.
