Allyson Ihrke was born January 3, 2008. She was born with bilateral lower extremity deformities. She has congenital vertical talus on the right, a clubfoot on the left, absent quadricep function, and absent peroneal nerve distribution function on the right side.
Ally has had multiple surgeries to correct these deformities. She is able to do more physically than doctors ever thought possible. However, she can't ride a traditional bike since she can't bend her legs far enough with the absence of quad muscles.
On February 28, 2016, Ally and her family went to the Gillette Children's Hospital Bike Expo where she got to try out many bikes to work around her leg restrictions. The one that works best for her is over $2200.
Most of us take for granted that we can buy our kids traditional bikes. Ally has always wanted to ride a bike with her friends but hasn't been able to. She has tried modified bikes before but the expense made these out of reach. However, it is time that Ally gets that chance to be like other kids and ride a bike! Lets help Ally get a bike for the upcoming summer!
Thank you!
