Help Local Cafe & Gallery Prevent Eviction!

My name is Oceania and I founded The Deep End Cafe & Gallery in Ypsilanti to create a safe and empowering space for underrepresented artists, writers and communities associated with these groups to promote and celebrate their work while drinking ethically sourced coffee. As a first generation business owner from a low income background, it has been difficult overcoming a recent set back we experienced at our cafe & gallery. There was a major leak in our ceiling which caused it to eventually grow mold and totally collapse. We had to close for several weeks to replace the ceiling and get the mold cleaned out. In the process we lost inventory and business. This costly set back has caused us to fall behind on rent.

Since we opened in March of 2023, we have made so many improvements to the cafe and the community is more and more invested in what we do here. Since we opened in March, we have curated 8 gallery exhibitions, featured 8 writers and hosted over 30 community events. We have even been recognized by several media outlets such as Mlive , Metro Times , Destination Ann Arbor , Current Magazine , Canvas Rebel Magazine , Ypsi Real and others.

We are told everyday by people who visit us how critical it is for us to exist here on Eastern Michigan University's campus. We are confident that our business will continue to grow and be successful.

We need your help! Please donate to so that we can catch up on our rent and stay open! Once we are caught up, we will be able to continue to focus on our growth and stability. We would be absolutely devastated if we had to close the space after all of the support and validation we have received and hard work we have put into this.
