Hi there, my name is Thomas and I am a tinkerer and a bit of a jack of all trades. A few years ago our family was blessed with a beautiful wonderful granddaughter, there were complications but she is a brave powerful warrior and she was born at 28 weeks weighing a mere 1.5 pounds, she was in NICU for 87 days fighting to go home to meet her brothers. We are not nearly as educated on autism as we need to be and we will work on that but what we do know as of now is she has autism and has great difficulty communicating and thinking about being in that situation sounds like a nightmare having thoughts and feelings that you can't express, being sore or itchy or hungry and not being able to tell your caregivers. So, we started doing our homework and found various communication devices that are being used but we found that they were usually expensive or required up to date fruit tablets that are quite expensive and then some require ongoing financial payments we have seen some systems going into the 10s of thousands.

So I began developing our own application and I learned how to program for android and I am partially into development of Amelia's Voice, which we hope will allow her to communicate her feelings and needs. But, I hate that children are limited in being able to get a speech device by income so, when it is complete I will be putting out Amelia's Voice on the app store for free for anyone who needs it. I am developing it with incredibly low requirements so that even an old phone or a $50 dollar tablet will run it and it is going to be completely configurable by the caregiver so that we can add the child's own toys, family etc.

I am here asking for donations just to upgrade my computer as development is currently very slow and grindy my processor is quite old and things like image editing and audio editing are very time consuming to put it mildly. I also need a few dollars to buy a small assortment of cheap (probably used) android devices to test on. (My wife and I clean medical offices together so while we are fortunate enough to have a roof and dinner every day we don't have a lot for extras like computer upgrades)

I know that I am supposed to offer rewards for donations but I have nothing to offer really, you are welcome to download it for free just like everyone else but I could totally put in a thank you page in the caregiver menu and put donators names in there thanking them for helping make this application happen.

Literally everything is changing on an ongoing basis but hopefully these older images will give you an idea of what we're trying to do. Everything is fully voiced as well, we have a lovely AI narrator program we are using and it does a great job.
