As everyone knows from my Facebook posts, my pony Penny took a turn for the worst a couple of weeks ago with lameness. She was not taken care of by the previous owner, and unfortunately, her feet were in the process of being rehabilitated since she didn't get proper care. She has been doing well. When I went to trail ride her last Saturday, she stopped, turned, and looked at me and basically said she couldn't go anymore. We went back to the barn, and of course, as soon as I could, I contacted my vet, and we decided that she needed to have an MRI, since she had X-rays in August that were fine, so that her barefoot trimmer could see what she had to work with. Penny is at Dr. Brendan Furlong's clinic in NJ. Unfortunately, due to my dog Nellie's MRI a few months ago for seizures and my elderly cats with kidney failure, my CareCredit will not cover all of Penny's vet bill, and it is not over yet. Dr. Furlong is examining everything tomorrow. Penny does not deserve this. She is one of the sweetest, kindest ponies I have had the pleasure of meeting, let alone call my own. I planned on her being my last of my equine adventures since I am 61. She has turned out to be everything I hoped for. My friends' kids ride her; she is kind, safe, and sweet. I have never set up a GoFundMe for my own animal. It has always been for rescued cats in need. I am asking my Facebook friends for help. I always help others, and now I need it. Please help Penny. Her current bill is almost 5000.00 . We had a wonderful summer trail riding and hunter pacing and I would hate to lose her.
